Mercenary, & Minion, & Cygnar Partisan, Character Solo

Professor Viktor Pendrake has become a legend in his own time. He has passed down the wisdom of years in the wild by heading up the Department of Extraordinary Zoology in Corvis but recent events have pulled him from the halls of academia. After surviving enslavement by the Skorne he returned to the west to rejoin old friends and aid his allies in their struggles for survival.

Weapons and Attacks[edit]

  • Chain Bola - Ranged weapon, 8" range with no damage
    • Cumbersome - This model cannot attack with this weapon and with another weapon on the same activation.
    • Knockdown - When a model is hit by an attack with this weapon, it becomes knocked down.
  • Lucky Bow - 12" range, POW 10 ranged weapon
    • Luck - Missed attack rolls with this weapon may be rerolled once.
  • Orgoth Sword - 0,5" range, P+S 11 melee weapon.

Special Abilities[edit]

  • Mercenary - Will work for Cygnar.
  • Partisan (Cygnar) - When included in a Cygnar army, this model/unit is a Cygnar model/unit instead of a Mercenary model/unit.
  • Minion - Will work for Circle, Trollbloods.
  • Animosity (Saxon Orrik) - This model can't be included in the same army as Saxon Orrik.
  • Pathfinder - This model treats rough terrain as open terrain while advancing. While charging, slam power attacking, or trample power attacking, this model does not stop its movement when it contacts an obstacle.
  • Tough - When this model is disabled, roll a d6. On a 5 or 6, remove 1 damage point from this model; it is no longer disabled and becomes knocked down. While knocked down this model loses Tough.
  • Beast Lore (★ Action) - Nearby friendly faction warrior model/unit gains boosted attack rolls against beasts for one round.
  • Dismember - If you hit a warbeast in melee you get an additional die on the damage roll.
  • Duck - Grants a large DEF buff against warbeast attacks and immunity to free strikes made by them.

Viktor Pendrake in a nutshell[edit]

Viktor Pendrake is a tech piece - he is taken for his Beast Lore which hands out a to hit buff against warbeasts. As Titans are so low DEF and Trolls aren't known for being hard to hit either this means that he is taken against the Circle Orboros warp wolves and the Legion of Everblight fliers. He's great in the right metagame - not so much the rest of the time.

  • Know your metagame. He's too situational for tournaments but works in leagues when you know who you will be facing.

How can I include this model in my army?[edit]

Mercenary-Minions are a bit more complicated than regular faction models, they can be taken in one of four different ways.

  1. This model can be included in a pure Mercenary army.

  • Knockdown (Edit) - Remember, knockdown only prevents what it says it does. Refer to the Knockdown page for a recap of what a model can/can't do.

Rules Clarification : Magical Damage      (Edit)

  • The "Damage Type: Magical" is not inherited by "secondary" damage from a weapon. That is, stuff like arcs (Electro Leap) or hazards (Scather). (Infernal Ruling)
  • All spells have "Damage Type: Magical" (refer errata).
    • This is inherited by "immediate" secondary damage (such as Eruption of Spines). (Infernal Ruling)
    • ... but not by "lingering" secondary damage (such as the cloud left by Breath of Corruption). In this case the hazard is damaging the model, not the spell that put the hazard into play.
  • If a weapon/spell includes Magic Damage and another kind of elemental damage it can still damage Incorporeal models. Incorporeal models are not affected by the rule "if an attack does multiple types of damage and a model is immune to at least one it is immune to the entire attack."
    The phrase "immune to non-magical damage" should be interpreted as "immune to damage that doesn't include Damage Type: Magical" (not interpreted as "has immunity to Corrosion and Electricity and Cold and etc.")

Rules Clarification : Partisan      (Edit)

  • This model is normally "friendly faction" to other mercenary models. However, when taken in the Partisan faction it is "friendly faction" to that faction and not to any other mercenaries that are in that force.
    • For instance, if you take Gallant in a Mercenary force he is "friendly faction" to, say, Reinholdt. But if you take them both in a Cygnar force then Gallant counts as a Cygnar model and is no longer "friendly faction" to Reinholdt.
  • Partisan Warcasters can be taken in faction theme forces. Refer to the main rulebook.

  • When using the Specialist or ADR rules in a Steamroller format, your entire list and the specialists must be a single legally fieldable force (even though you're not fielding it all at once).
