Trollblood Light Warbeast

Fluff blurb (Copy from PP)

Basic Info[edit]

Slag Trolls are living proof that the adaptable Troll species can and will eat anything. With a taste for metal, the Slag Troll has metabolised powerful acids which rapidly melt through iron and even tempered steel. Such dim-witted Trolls are notoriously angry, goaded by metal shards continuously growing through their flesh. Their habit of spitting corrosive acid has not endeared them to enemies of the Trollbloods.

Thoughts on Slag Troll[edit]

Slag Troll in a nutshell[edit]

As one might expect from a troll that eats solid metal, the Slag Troll is the bane of Warmachine armies and the Convergence. Against warjacks and constructs it hits like a low end heavy warbeast and its gun may be short range but is powerful enough for a heavy.

Combos & Synergies[edit]

  • With Rage animus and Stone Strength Aura, a fully-Forced Assault-Charging Slag, on average, performs 36 damage to a target construct with ARM 20. This makes it Trollbloods' lowest point cost warbeast to credibly threaten warjack destruction.
  • With Rage/Stone Strength, during Horgle2's Feat and versus a target construct suffering Continuous Fire, a fully-Forced Assault-Charging Slag may perform, on average, 66 damage to that target.

Drawbacks & Downsides[edit]

  • Even against WM it's only as tough as a light.
  • Against Hordes opponents it is very mediocre (unless its construct heavy circle).
  • The same animus on a Skorne warbeast was errata-exchanged, suggesting there is evidence to support an opinion the Slag's animus is of limited merit.

Tricks & Tips[edit]

  • It has great spot removal.

Comparison to Mk2[edit]

  • Given the gamewide nerf to Animus targets, the slag troll is slightly less useful in terms of support.
  • It used to be purely ranged but have the equivalent of Reload [1]

Rules Clarifications[edit]

Rules Clarification : Corrosion      (Edit)

  • A weapon can inflict continuous corrosion without itself being a corrosion damage weapon (for example, the Acidic Touch animus). In this case, the attack can hurt models with Immunity: Corrosion it just won't apply the continuous effect.

Rules Clarification : Erosion - None yet. (Edit)

Rules Clarification : Open Fist      (Edit)

  • Refer to the Rules Clarifications on Throw.
  • When you make a Throw Power Attack, no other abilities of the Fist weapon (such as Chain Strike) are applied unless they specifically mention Throws.

Rules Clarification : Warbeast      (Edit)

  • Please refer to the Warbeast page for a recap of the warbeast rules, and the very few associated Infernal Rulings.

Rules Clarification : Assault      (Edit)
There is a long and detailed breakdown on the Assault page. The short version, though, is:

  • Assault occurs immediately after Step 5 of the Activation Sequence in Apdx A (or after Step 6 for a unit with Assault). (Infernal Ruling)
  • With a unit you need to move all models, then do all Assault attacks, then start charge attacks. (Infernal Ruling)
  • You may not use "any time" abilities between 'finishing movement' and 'starting Assault attack'. (Infernal Ruling)
  • If you fail your charge, you may not use "any time" abilities between 'finishing Assault attack' and 'activation ends'. (Infernal Ruling)
  • See the Assault page for more corner-case scenarios, like Drag + Assault and Countercharge vs Assault.

Rules Clarification : Regeneration      (Edit)

  • Placeholder

Rules Clarification : Acidic Touch      (Edit)

  • Power Attacks are not made with a melee weapon, so they won't gain Corrosion.
