Pyrrhus, Flameguard Hero
Protectorate Flameguard Character Solo

Pyrrhus is more than the epitome of a Flameguard; he represents a pinnacle of Menite devotion and service. With movements honed through years of training, he charges forward to decimate opponents, taking everything while giving nothing in return. His mastery of his weapons extends well beyond that of any of his peers, and his faith in the Creator gives him extraordinary confidence in himself as a conduit for the wrath of Menoth.

Weapons[edit]

  • Flame Spear - 2" reach, P+S 11 melee weapon.
    • Weapon Master - When attacking with this weapon, add an additional die to its damage rolls.
    • Critical Continuous Fire - A model critically hit by this attack is set on fire. A model on fire suffers a POW 12 fire damage roll each turn until the fire expires.
  • Shield - 0.5" reach, P+S 9 melee weapon.
    • Weapon Master - When attacking with this weapon, add an additional die to its damage rolls.
    • Shield - This 'weapon' is a shield that provides a cumulative +2 ARM bonus. The bonus doesn't apply if the weapon is crippled or if the damage originates in your back arc.
    • Beat Back - Immediately after a basic attack with this weapon is resolved during this model's Combat Action, the enemy model hit can be pushed 1" directly away from the attacking model. After the enemy model is pushed, the attacking model can advance up to 1" directly towards it.

Abilities[edit]

  • Tough - When this model is disabled, roll a d6. On a 5 or 6, remove 1 damage point from this model; it is no longer disabled and becomes knocked down. While knocked down this model loses Tough.
  • Impenetrable Shield - Pyrrhus can't be damaged by non-magical melee/ranged attacks while B2B with friendly Temple Flameguard model(s).
  • Relentless Charge - While advancing as part of a charge, this model gains Pathfinder.
  • Leadership [Temple Flameguard] - Friendly Temple Flameguard models in this model's CMD range gain Relentless Charge.
  • Rapid Strike - This model can make one additional melee attack each Combat Action.
  • Set Defense - Charge attacks, slam attacks, and impact attacks versus this model suffer a -2 to hit penalty.
  • Unyielding - This model gains +2 ARM against melee damage rolls.

Pyrrhus, Flameguard Hero in a nutshell[edit]

A combat solo who synergises with Temple Flameguard - but not particularly popular as TFG are generally there as cheap bodies. If you're playing Guardians of the Temple, a good option for your free points. If you're not, he competes with the Knight Exemplar Seneschal for his slot, and generally loses out.

Combos & Synergies[edit]

  • Lets you run your Temple Flameguard behind a wall and still be able to charge out with them the next turn. However not granting pathfinder when you run means that it's less useful for forests and rubble.

Drawbacks & Downsides[edit]

Placeholder.

Tricks & Tips[edit]

  • You can use rapid strike with either weapon, so you can beat back twice.

Rules Clarifications[edit]

Rules Clarification : Weapon Master - None yet. (Edit)

RC symbol.png

Rules Clarification : Fire      (Edit)

  • Moving into "Shallow water" standard terrain does not cause continuous fire to expire. It's magic fire.
    • You can always use non-standard terrain if you agree with your opponent before the game starts, however.
  • A weapon can inflict continuous fire without itself being a fire damage weapon (for example, the Helios's fists). In this case, the attack can hurt models with Immunity:Fire it just won't apply the continuous effect.

Rules Clarification : Shield and/or Buckler     (Edit)

  • The only time you lose the Shield bonus is when the weapon is crippled, or if the attack originates in your back arc. (Infernal Ruling)
    • In other words, you still get the Shield bonus while knocked down or stationary.
  • You don't get the Shield bonus vs stuff originating in your back arc. This includes stuff that "leaps" off models in your back arc, such as Electro Leap. (Locked thread)

Rules Clarification : Beat Back      (Edit)

  • You cannot use Beat Back if you destroy the target; because you can't advance towards a model that is no longer on the table. (Infernal Ruling)
  • You can trigger Beat Back even if the model is no longer in your melee range after the attack. For instance, if you used a Pitch to throw it away, you can still Beat it Back. (Locked thread)
  • The free advance doesn't depend on the target being pushed.
  • Beat Back can be used to push larger models.
  • See also the clarifications on Pushes.

Rules Clarification : Tough - None yet. (Edit)

RC symbol.png

Rules Clarification : Impenetrable Shield      (Edit)

  • If an attack has Damage Type: Magical it will ignore Impenetrable Shield (Infernal Ruling)
    • In other words, "Non-magical melee or ranged attacks" means "Melee or ranged attacks that do not have Damage Type: Magical".

Rules Clarification : Relentless Charge      (Edit)

Rules Clarification : Leadership      (Edit)

  • If you have two Leaders handing out the same buff, then sometimes they stack (Bronzeback) and sometimes they don't (Exemplar Bastion). (Infernal Ruling)
  • See specific models for case-by-case clarifications.

Rules Clarification : Rapid Strike - None yet. (Edit)
Rules Clarification : Set Defense - None yet. (Edit)
