Trollblood Trollkin Warlock Unit

Hoarluk Doomshaper has cemented himself by word and deed as an essential pillar of the United Kriels, preaching a violent rhetoric embracing aggression and the annihilation of all foes. He has proven that victory cannot be attained through peace, but instead requires strength and ruthless ferocity. He has scoured every sacred site and spent endless hours collecting a wealth of ancient teachings. A number of stout pygmy trolls volunteered to help shoulder the legendary shaman’s burden, bearing enough scrolls and cases to rival the weight of equipment borne by heavily armored kriel warriors.

Weapons and Attacks[edit]

Special Abilities[edit]

  • Warlock Unit - All warlocks come with a stack of standard special rules - most notably being awesome. Furthermore, this warlock comes with some grunts that can be ordered around.
  • Officer - This model is the Unit Commander even if the Unit has a leader. If it dies, the Leader becomes the Unit Commander. If there is no Leader model, a grunt does instead.
  • Tough - When this model is disabled, roll a d6. On a 5 or 6, remove 1 damage point from this model; it is no longer disabled and becomes knocked down. While knocked down this model loses Tough.
  • Hyper-Regeneration - This model heals a few boxes at the start of its activation.
  • Field Marshal (Hyper-Regeneration) - Warbeasts/warjacks in this model's battlegroup gain Hyper-Regeneration. (Hyper-Regeneration - This model heals a few boxes at the start of its activation.)

Spells[edit]

  • Admonition - Cost 2, range 6 upkeep spell. When an enemy model advances and ends its movement within 6" of target model in the spellcasters's battlegroup, the affected model can immediately advance up to 3", then Admonition expires. The affected model cannot be targeted by free strikes during this movement.
  • Implacability - Battlegroup models cannot be knocked down, placed, moved by a slam, or pushed.
  • Repudiate - This spell does no damage. Instead, on a hit all animi/upkeep spells on the target expire. Also, if an upkeep expires the model controlling it takes a bit of damage.
  • Stranglehold - Average range, low POW spell. If the target is damaged then during their next activation they must forfeit either movement or action.
  • Unminding - Target enemy warbeast gets a FURY and THR debuff and loses its animus. The caster can cast the affected warbeast's animus as if it belonged to a member of his battlegroup.

Feat: Blood of Dhunia[edit]

For one round, models in Doomshaper's CTRL gain an additional die on melee attack rolls and warbeasts in his battlegroup heal a hefty amount when hit by enemy attacks.

Scroll Bearers[edit]

Weapons and Attacks[edit]

Special Abilities[edit]

  • Tough - When this model is disabled, roll a d6. On a 5 or 6, remove 1 damage point from this model; it is no longer disabled and becomes knocked down. While knocked down this model loses Tough.

  • Scroll Bearer - Once per activattion, if B2B with this model, Doomshaper can use one of these scrolls (Each scroll can be used once per game and lasts one turn/round):
    • Scroll of the Call of Troqal - While in Doomshaper's control range battlegroup warbeasts can use their animus for free.
    • Scroll of the Hand of Yolandi - While in Doomshaper's control range enemy spells cost double focus/fury to cast/upkeep.
    • Scroll of the Strength of the Molgur - While in Doomshaper's control range friendly faciton warrior models gain a die on attack rolls, discarding the lowest.

Analysis of Hoarluk Doomshaper, Dire Prophet[edit]

Hoarluk Doomshaper, Dire Prophet in a nutshell[edit]

Doomshaper3 is a defensively focused warbeast warlock, healing almost all damage from his trolls before throwing them back into the fray. He's absolutely terrifying to people who aren't expecting him but easy to tech against so he'll never disrupt the metagame too much.

Common army selection[edit]

Doomy3 likes scary big, scary tough warbeasts. Because toughness stacks he can be a fan of the Earthborn Dire Troll - but more normally likes the Dire Troll Mauler, other Dire Trolls, the Troll Bouncer and the Trollblood Gargantuans. He never, of course, leaves home without a Krielstone

Drawbacks and Downsides[edit]

  • Anyone who knows they are going to be facing Doomshaper should be able to bring something that shuts down healing. At that point his feat and his hyper-regeneration become pointless rather than scary.

Tricks and Tactics[edit]

Changes from Mk2[edit]

  • Farewell, Goad. For he's a jolly good fellow...
  • Feat no longer lowers damage received.
  • Scroll Bearers lost Attached, allowing use of a Runebearer for slightly improved Fury management.
