Weapons[edit]

  • Herne
    • Pistol - 8" range, POW 10 gun
    • Axe - 0.5" reach, P+S 9 melee weapon
  • Jonne
    • Barage Arquebus - 12" range, 3" AOE, POW 14 gun
      • Scattershot (★ Attack) - To make this attack, Jonne & Herne must be in B2B. Make a basic ranged attack, determine the point of impact, then roll for two more 3" AOEs that scatter from there. Models in an AOE are hit and suffer POW 7 blast damage.
    • Great Axe - 1" reach, P+S 13 melee weapon

Abilities[edit]

  • Mercenary - Works as a Cygnar mercenary, Khador mercenary, or Protectorate of Menoth mercenary.
  • Herne
    • Officer - This model is the unit commander even if the unit has a Leader model.
    • Artillerist (★ Action) - Target friendly Faction model in CMD range gains +2 RAT on its next AOE ranged attack this turn. Also, it can re-roll direction and/or distance if it does not directly hit.
  • Jonne
    • Jonne has the same statline as in the statbox, except -2 RAT, +2 ARM, and +3 HP.
    • Tough - When this model is disabled, roll a d6. On a 5 or 6, remove 1 damage point from this model; it is no longer disabled and becomes knocked down. While knocked down this model loses Tough.


Thoughts on Herne & Jonne[edit]

Herne & Jonne in a nutshell[edit]

Herne and Jonne are an anti-infantry unit with a bit of suppport tossed in in the form of Artillerist. In the right matchups, they are great.

Combos & Synergies[edit]

  • Durgen Madhammer for lots of blast fun
  • Remember that Herne's Artillerist ability doesn't have to be used on Jonne - Herne works well with other sources of AoEs.
  • Before the Siege Crawler and Horgenhold Artillery became prominent, General Ossrum often cast Fire For Effect on them.

Drawbacks & Downsides[edit]

  • Blasts don't kill much other than light infantry
  • Because light infantry are so vulnerable to blasts, most people build lists with ways to allow their infantry to shrug them off either through Dig In, Iron Flesh, Recursion or Unhallowed.

Tricks & Tips[edit]

  • Herne doesn't have to use Artillerist on Jonne
  • Speculative shots can be well worth it as long as you have no light infantry likely to be hit; with the initial scatter and the extra blasts you have a good chance of something interesting happening.
  • If there's a big target in the centre of the enemy lines you can aim for it and hope for useful scatters.
  • All damage rolls are boosted for all three scatters if Ossrum casts Fire for Effect on this unit.

Rules Clarifications[edit]

Rules Clarification : Officer      (Edit)

  • Even if they're not on the Officer's card, an Officer can give (and benefit from) any non-standard orders that are on the unit's card (such as Shield Wall). Refer main rulebook.
  • When the Officer dies, the Leader model becomes the new Unit Commander (you don't get to choose).
  • But if your unit doesn't include a Leader model, then you do get to choose any of the remaining models to be the new Unit Commander. You don't swap the model, but it may be worth putting a token down so you can tell that grunt apart.

  • All three AOEs can benefit from Artillerist and/or Fire For Effect.
  • The additional shots deviate the full d6" regardless of the original range. (refer Tactical Tip)
  • A model in more than one AOE will take a damage roll from each AOE. (refer Tactical Tip)
  • You don't halve the POW 7 blast damage - it is already blast damage.
